In the early years of our firm, the only way we knew how to get new business was by referrals from our original clients who were pleased with the projects we had completed for them. However many of the clients who were happy with our work did not take any effort to refer us to other clients. Therefore, I had to find other ways to get new business. This is where I saw the potential in BNI’s way of getting new business by referral. I was impressed by the supportive attitude of fellow members in referring business to each other in a mutually beneficial relationship.
I have attended almost every new seminar and workshop BNI has run since joining and every one of them has taught me something about running my business better.
To date, my firm has done business worth more than RM525 Million!!
VK, our BNI Ambassador referred me a construction project sometime this year and that referral resulted in business worth more than RM200 Million!! Our firm was also appointed to their panel of consultants which would mean a long term business relationship.
My fellow Lighthouse Chapter member Menon too, referred me another project worth RM300 Million!!
It is NOT given that fellow BNI members must introduce their best business contacts to you. You have to win their friendship and trust, especially in the “difficult to refer” business like ours.
